Book Review—The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary

I heard about The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary from #spiveys📚club, the online book club of which I’m a member.  Many of the members were raving about the book. They felt it had been overlooked, and they couldn’t believe it hasn’t been discussed more than it has.  So, I put the audiobook on hold at my local public library.  I was able to listen to it recently, and the hype about the book was real!  I loved the book!

Published in April, 2019,  The Flatshare was Beth O’Leary’s debut novel.  In her bio on Goodreads, it states that she wrote the book exclusively “on her train journey to and from work.”  The Flatshare is a charming book about Tiffy and Leon.  They end up sharing a flat, but not the way you think they might. Tiffy has broken up with her boyfriend and needs a new place to live.  Leon wants some extra cash.  He decides to rent his one-bedroom flat to Tiffy because they have opposite schedules.  Tiffy and Leon never meet since Leon’s girlfriend handles the transaction concerning the flat.  But, Tiffy and Leon leave each other the cutest post-it notes!  You will love these characters!  The book is told from each character’s point of view in alternating chapters, and the reader really gets to know the characters well.  This book is a gem!

And, lucky for all of the Beth O’Leary fans, she has a new book coming out on April 30, 2020 entitled The Switch.  If that isn’t enough, she has The Road Trip scheduled to be available on April 29, 2021!
