Book Review—The Honey-Don’t List by Christina Lauren

I was a bit disappointed in this book from the duo, Christina Lauren.  Maybe it is just that I have read so many of their books that I had high expectations for The Honey-Don’t List.  But, to me, this book doesn’t feel like the quality of  Josh & Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating or The Unhoneymooners.

Carey Duncan, the main character of the book, is an assistant to Melissa and Rusty Tripp.  She has worked for the Tripp’s since she was a teenager.  The Tripp’s have made it big as the televisions stars of a remodeling show.  They have recently written a book about their marriage which dispenses self-help for others.  The only problem is that their marriage is imploding at the time they are going to begin their book tour.

Melissa hires James McCann, an MIT graduate applying for a structural engineering position with the company, as Rusty’s assistant.  James is to basically babysit Rusty, because of his flirty ways.  Carey and James bond over the craziness that occurs during the book tour.

Carey is by far my favorite character in the book.  Her character is developed well, and the reader develops empathy for her. (No spoilers here.) I feel like there was so much going on in the book that the relationship between Carey and James was not prioritized to make it believable.

Overall, I’m giving The Honey-Don’t List 3.5 out of 5 stars.
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 out of 5 stars
