It’s Monday!

I’m sharing my last, now, and next reads today!

LAST—My last read was The Library Book by Susan Orlean.  It is about the fire that destroyed the Los Angeles Public Library on April 29, 1986.  But it is about more than that. It is about how libraries are an integral part of our communities.  I will review The Library Book in full this week.  It is a fascinating book.

NOW—Right now I am reading Conjure Woman by Afia Atakora.  It is about a mother and daughter during the Civil War and afterward who had healing powers in their slave quarters.  There are a lot of secrets in this book. One is concerning the master’s daughter.  I hope to finish it today in time for the Barnes & Noble Virtual Book Club tonight at 7 pm!

NEXT—Next I will be reading Beach Read by Emily Henry for my online book club, Spivey’s Book Club.  It was also a Book of the Month choice.  It is about a romance writer and a literary writer who are polar opposites.  Both are stuck in a rut of writing and they develop a challenge to get back-on-track.  It has gotten rave reviews.  I just wish I could read it at the beach.
