Just letting you know that Lemonade Frosé is not on plan because it contains alcohol. But, if you desire a refreshing summer drink for yourself (Hahaha), your book club, or a summer brunch, this is it! Its delightful rosy color is beautiful, and it has the quality of an icy slushy. So what is the secret ingredient? Frozen rosé. Yes, you heard that right! Frozen rosé. This recipe comes from none other than Jessica Merchant’s How Sweet Eats blog.
Lemonade Frosé—Yields 4; Total Time—1 Day
Ingredients:
- 1 standard 750 mL bottle of dry rosé
- 1 cup lemonade (I used Publix lemonade. Simply Lemonade would also work, as would homemade.)
- 1/2 cup rosé syrup recipe below
- 1 lemon zest freshly grated
- Lemon slices for garnish
Rosé Syrup
- 1/2 cup dry rosé from an additional bottle of dry rosé (I didn’t have to use a second bottle of rosé. Explanation in #1 of recipe instructions .)
- 1/2 cup sugar (Yes, I used regular sugar.)
Instructions:
- The night before, pour the rosé into two ice cube trays (you might need three trays depending on the size, but two should do it!) (My note: I used three silicone ice cube trays, and I had enough rosé leftover to make the rosé syrup without opening a second bottle.)
- When it’s time to make the frosé, place the ice cubes, rosé syrup, lemonade and lemon zest in a blender. Blend until it’s a slushy-like consistency. Refrain from adding ice until you see the consistency. Some rosés freeze differently, so you might need a handful or two of ice to make it more slushy. If it’s too icy and won’t blend, add more of the rosé from the bottle that you use for the syrup. (My rosé ice cubes were a slushy consistency, so I had no problem.)
- Pour the frosé into glasses and serve with a garnish of lemon.
Rosé Syrup
- Combine the wine and sugar in a sauce pan over medium heat. Whisk until the sugar dissolves and the mixture starts to bubble, then turn off the heat. Let it cool completely. If you made it ahead of time, which you can, store it in the fridge until you’re ready to use.
Isn’t is beautiful? I was so excited to use my silicone straws and my lemon stirrer I’ve had for over a year!! This drink is so refreshing! Perfect for girls’ nights or just for you on a hot summer night on your porch! And, the best news is that I have a leftover bottle of rosé!! Enjoy!!!
