Book Review—Summer Longing by Jamie Brenner

I read Summer Longing by Jamie Brenner for Jessica’s Book Club, started by Jessica Merchant of the How Sweet Eats blog.  It was the first book I have read by author, Jamie Brenner, and it won’t be the last.  This book is part romance and part mystery.  Main character Ruth Cooperman has recently sold her cosmetic company and is spending her first summer of retirement in Provincetown.  She is basking in her solitude until she awakes one morning and finds a baby girl on her doorstep.  Brenner introduces an interesting cast of characters throughout the book from Ruth’s landlords and her realtor, to her estranged daughter and ex-husband.  The relationships in this book are well-developed and draw you in, as a reader.  Even though this summer becomes wildly different than Ruth ever imagined, it also becomes one to remember.
