Book Review—Friends and Strangers by J. Courtney Sullivan

Friends and Strangers by J. Courtney Sullivan is a coming-of-age, domestic fiction novel. Published on June 30, 2020, it was Read with Jenna Book Club’s July selection. I listened to the book on the Libby app. The narrator, Kate Rudd, was excellent.

The novel begins with married couple Elisabeth and Andrew relocating to a small town from Brooklyn with their new baby son, Gil. Elisabeth is a writer and has a contract with a publisher to complete a new book. In order to have more time to devote to her writing, Elisabeth hires a college student, Sam, to babysit several hours during the week. The two women, even though in different stages in life, form a tight friendship. This book is about motherhood, female friendships, and betrayal. I highly recommend Friends and Strangers by J. Courtney Sullivan.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Other books by J. Courtney Sullivan include Maine and Saints for All Occasions. I have not read either book, but they are now on my ever-increasing list of books I want to read.
