Book Review—Lying Next to Me by Gregg Olsen

Lying Next to Me by Gregg Olsen is an amazing thriller. It is about Adam and Sophie Warner, an average married couple feeling the stresses of work and raising their 3-year-old daughter. They decide to take a vacation to relax. On the second day of their trip, while Adam and their daughter are in a boat, Adam sees a man abduct Sophie. Adam is unable to get to Sophie in time. He calls the police, and Detective Lee Husemann, an old friend of Adam’s, is brought in on the case.

Without giving away too much, I will tell you that there are many questions about what happened to Sophie. There are other witnesses to the crime, and as a reader, it is hard to figure out who is telling the truth. This book is wild to the very end. Once you start reading (or listening to the audiobook, as I did) you can’t stop!

Author Gregg Olsen has written ten novels and ten nonfiction books. He has been a guest on national and local television shows, including the History Channel, NPR, Good Morning America, and 48 Hours. This was the first book I read by Gregg Olsen, and I look forward to reading more of his work.
