Book Review—The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Kline

“We should always make time for the things we like. I’d we don’t, we might forget how to be happy.”  —TJ Klune

I was first attracted to The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune by its whimsical cover. I read a few positive reviews and decided to read the book. The House in the Cerulean Sea is a young adult fantasy that is definitely suitable for adults. Author TJ Klune has created a cast of lovable characters and a magical setting that will transport you from your real life.

My favorite character is Linus, a 40-year-old case worker for the Department in Charge of Magical Youth. Linus is asked by Extremely Upper Management to go on a classified assignment. The assignment takes him to the Marsyas Island Orphanage. It is there that he meets the proprietor, along with the children.

The House in the Cerulean Sea is a story of love and finding it where you would least expect. All of the children in the orphanage are unique and have lovable and redeeming qualities. It is also a story about family and that not all families have to look the same way.

I listened to the audiobook of The House on the Cerulean Sea. The narration was fabulous and added to the humorous quality of the book. If you want to read or listen to an uplifting tale, then check out The House in the Cerulean Sea. I highly recommend this book.
