May Reading 2021

It’s time to share my May Reading! This is one of my favorite posts to write each month. I hope you will find some great recommendations!

The Flight Attendant by Chris Bohjalian—This book was published in March, 2018 and has been made into  a TV series on HBO Max.  Cassandra Bowden’s life becomes complicated, to say the least, during her flight to Dubai. I stayed up late last night to finish this book; just thrilling to the end! Now I’m going to have to binge watch Season 1 of the television series! Full book review will be up soon!

From the Corner of the Oval by Beck Dorey-Stein—This book was published in July 2018. I must have a theme of reading 2018 published books this month! Loved this book! The author worked as a stenographer during the Obama administration and gives a behind the scenes look at her work and personal life. Full review will be coming!

The Bookshop of Yesterdays by Amy Meyerson—Of course, this book was published in June, 2018! It is author Amy Meyerson’s debut novel about a young woman, Miranda, who unexpectedly inherits a bookstore. Review will be forthcoming!

This Must Be the Place by Maggie O’Farrell—Published in 2016, This Must Be the Place is the first O’Farrell novel I have read. Daniel Sullivan, who is at the center of this story, marries a reclusive American ex-film star in Ireland. The character development in the story is outstanding. Full review will be coming!

The Kitchen Front by Jennifer Ryan—This book was a Jessica’s Book Club choice in April of this year. The Kitchen Front is set in England during WWII. It follows four women with diverse lifestyles who complete in a cooking contest using ration coupons. Just delightful. Review to come soon!

Under the Southern Sky by Kristy Woodson Harvey—Published in April of this year, Under the Southern Sky is a perfect summer read. It is a novel about love and family, and it also addresses some difficult subjects. Full review to come!

The Nine Lives of Rose Napolitano by Donna Freitas—Published in April of this year, this novel will keep you engrossed until the ending. Rose makes a decision about her life before she is married. There comes a point in time in the novel where the story breaks off into other narratives and the consequences of her actions. Full review is coming!

Yoga Pant Nation by Laurie Gelman—I won this Arc from Goodreads! This is the third and last book in the Class Mom series. I have read the entire series and have loved it so much! It has a lot of school humor, so it was very appealing to this retired teacher. You can buy Yoga Pant Nation wherever you buy your books beginning on July 13th! Full review is coming soon!

House Plant by Jeremy Ray—This is a heartwarming short story. It takes less than an hour to read and will leave you with a warm feeling. It is available on Kindle Unlimited. Full review to come.
