Book Review—Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Malibu Rising, by Taylor Jenkins Reid, is definitely one of this summer’s finest novels. It was a Book of the Month selection and a Read with Jenna pick for the month of June. The novel is divided into two parts and takes place over a 24-hour period. Author Taylor Jenkins Reid immerses the reader into the Riva family saga from the very beginning of the book.

The book focuses on main character Nina Riva, a champion surfer and model, her siblings, and parents Mick and June. We follow the day Saturday, August 28, 1983, which happens to be the day of Nina’s annual Summer Bash. The novel also flashes back to Mick and June’s relationship, which is totally engrossing.

This is definitely the book you want to take on your summer vacation. Spending hours with the Riva family while at the pool or beach sipping a cocktail would definitely be a delightful day! I highly recommend Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid.
