Book Review—The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz

Have you ever read a novel that has a plot within a plot? The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz is just that book. This New York Times bestselling novel is about a writer, Jacob Finch Bonner, whose first novel was a huge success. However, he has not been able to replicate that success with subsequent novels, so he reluctantly decides to teach writing at a M.F.A. program. It is there that he meets Evan Parker, a narcissistic student, who boasts that the plot he is working on will absolutely become a #1 bestselling book. Evan shares a few chapters with Jake, and Jake is blown away with what he reads. A few years pass by and Jake realizes he has never heard about Evan Parker’s book. He does a little digging and finds out that Evan died a few months after leaving the M.F.A. program. Hmmmmm. I am going to stop there.

The Plot becomes incredibly suspenseful and thrilling with Jakes’s choices moving forward. I listened to the audiobook, and I could hardly stop listening. Author Jean Hanff Korelitz has created a book that creates tension, so much so, that you have to get to the ending.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
