Book Review—Eight Perfect Hours by Lia Louis

Here it is—the first book I read in 2022! In this hopeful year of 2022, somehow I managed to read a wintry romance full of fate and serendipity.

The book begins with main character Noelle Butterby getting caught in a terrible blizzard on a British highway. She had been driving back from a college reunion when the traffic came to a standstill. Noelle was upset for a number of reasons (phone dead, seeing ex at reunion, etc.) and was crying in her car when a young man tapped on her window. Sam Attwood, an American, comes to Noelle’s rescue. He offers to let her charge her phone in his car or use his phone to call her mom. Noelle opts to charge her phone in his car, and this begins their “eight perfect hours” together.

That could have easily been the end of the Noelle and Sam story except for the serendipitous events that start occurring in their lives. This is the story of two adults who are stuck in their past, but are trying to move forward. The plot has twists, and there are subplots and secondary characters that add much to the enjoyment of this romantic novel. I listened to the audio version of this book, and Emma Powell did an outstanding job with the narration.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Lia Louis is also the author of Dear Emmie Blue.
