Book Review—The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I have wanted to read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid for a long time. This historical fiction/romance novel has been highly recommended by many of my reading friends. I decided to start the year in a great way and read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo in January. Originally published in June of 2017, I received my copy of the book from Book of the Month.

Evelyn Hugo is an aging Hollywood icon. She wants to write her autobiography and contacts Monique Grant, a journalist at Vivant, a magazine, to assist her. Thus begins the novel as Evelyn tells the story of her life in Hollywood, her marriages, her awards, and her secrets. Taylor Jenkins Reid’s writing is superb. The reader is captivated by Evelyn Hugo, just as she captivates her fans. If you enjoy stories of Old Hollywood (think Elizabeth Taylor, Ava Gardner, Marilyn Monroe), you will enjoy The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.
