Book Review—The Stranger in the Lifeboat by Mitch Albom

The Stranger in the Lifeboat, published in November of 2021, is Mitch Albom’s most recent novel. It falls under the genres of mystery, thriller, Christian fiction, and psychological fiction. I listened to the audio version of the book read by the author, which I loved.

The book begins with billionaire, Jason Lambert, taking his new huge yacht, The Galaxy, out on its maiden voyage. There are many movers and shakers aboard the yacht, including a former U.S. President. Suddenly there is a horrible explosion on the yacht. About ten people end up on a lifeboat, including a stranger that no one remembers seeing on the yacht, who proclaims he is the Lord.

The Stranger in the Lifeboat has three parallel storylines: Sea, Land, and News, which kept the book interesting. Sea focuses on the survivors of the explosion on the lifeboat. Land focuses on Chief Inspector Jarty LaFleur, who lives on the island of Montserrat. News focuses on reporter Tyler Brewer who memorializes the guests of billionaire Jason Lambert each week in his show.

This novel is thought-provoking. The structure of the book keeps the reader engaged, and it has an exciting ending. I thoroughly enjoyed A Stranger in the Lifeboat.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
