Book Review—The Unsinkable Greta James by Jennifer E. Smith

Greta James is an indie singer who is dealing with the recent loss of her mother. She has a meltdown on stage and has taken time off from touring. A family member asks Greta to go on an Alaskan cruise with her father, which he was supposed to take with her mom to celebrate their 40th anniversary. Reluctantly, Greta goes on the cruise with her father. Her dad has never been supportive of her career.

This is a story about dealing with grief, repairing family relationships, and basically reevaluating life. There is also a little romance with Ben, a guest lecturer on the cruise. The descriptions of Alaska are beautiful, and I love that the author chose such a peaceful setting for this novel. The Unsinkable Greta James is an uplifting and inspiring novel. I listened to the audiobook and it was excellent!

Be sure to add this book to your summer reading list!
