Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng is a dystopian fiction novel set in the future United States. It is also an emotional mother-son story. The novel is told through the eyes of 12-year-old Bird Gardner. He lives with his father, who is a professor turned librarian. His mother, a Chinese-American poet, left the family during this age of banning books. Our Missing Hearts is a beautifully written, timely novel. I listened to the audiobook, which was excellent.
