Book Review—The Man I Never Met by Elle Cook

The Man I Never Met is author Elle Cook’s first contemporary novel. However, she has written many historical fiction novels under the name Lorna Cook, including her newest one, The Dressmaker’s Secret about Coco Chanel’s assistant. 

The Man I Never Met is a contemporary romance that has a unique plot. The main characters, Hannah and Davey, “meet” in an unconventional way. Both characters are likable, as well as the secondary characters of Hannah’s neighbor, Joan, and best friend, Miranda. The author engages the reader in the storyline from the beginning. There is much anticipation involved until the novel takes an unforeseen turn. The novel becomes much more than a typical love story. There are so many real emotions portrayed in the book including love, confusion and despair. In fact, the reader is not sure there will be a love story between Hannah and Davey. Will they ever meet?

I enjoyed The Man I Never Met and will look forward to reading more of Elle Cook/Lorna Cook’s work.
