Book Review—Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld

I thoroughly enjoyed Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld. In fact, it is one of my favorite books so far this year. Main character Sally Milz is a sketch writer for a SNL-type show. I think the setting of being behind-the-scenes at a late night show is unique and fun for the reader. As a reader, we get to see the writing process, how the sketches are chosen, and the grueling schedule of a late night writer. The book is extremely funny; I loved the banter between Sally and co-writer, Danny Horst. Sally has sworn off having a relationship, but Danny has started to date a beautiful actress who recently co-hosted the show. When Noah Brewster, a pop singer, co-hosts the show, Sally collaborates with him on a few sketches. Are sparks flying or is Sally imagining things? You will have to read the book!
