Book Review—Adelaide by Genevieve Wheeler

Adelaide is Genevieve Wheeler’s debut novel. It is set mainly in London when the main character, Adelaide, moves there from the US for graduate school. Adelaide has a core group of great, supportive girlfriends. She is so excited about life and the opportunities ahead of her. She meets Rory, falls in love and thinks he’s “the one.” That is until he waits until late in the week to make plans with her, doesn’t answer texts, etc. Adelaide just tries harder to make the relationship work, even though it is taking a huge toll on her.

Genevieve Wheeler’s writing is captivating and the reader is transported into the midst of Adelaide’s life. The book is difficult to stop reading, especially when  the turning point in Adelaide and Rory’s relationship occurs. Ultimately, this book is about having compassion for yourself, self-love, and is full of hope.
