Book Review—Happy Place by Emily Henry

It seems like yesterday that Emily Henry published her debut novel, Beach Read, in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic. It was one of my favorite books that year. Fast forward three years and Ms. Henry is one of the bestselling authors in the country. Her newest novel, Happy Place, is continuing that trend.

Everyone, it seems, has their “happy place.” For this group of friends it is a Maine cottage where they have traveled for a number of years. This is the last year the group will spend at the cottage, since it is being sold. One of the couples, Harriet and Wyn, has been broken up for a a bit, but wants to keep it a secret from the rest of the group, as to not put a damper on the trip for everyone. Will they succeed?

I loved this book. I love Emily Henry’s character development and the escapism/humor all of her books contain. I’m already looking forward to her next book.

My “happy place” is on my screened-in porch where I took the book photo. I often read there and I can turn the patio lights on at night for a cozy atmosphere.

By the way, where is your “happy place?”
