Book Review—You Should Have Known by Jean Hanff Korelitz

You Should Have Known by Jean Hanff Korelitz was published in 2014. MAX made it into a 6-episode miniseries in 2020 under the name of The Undoing. It stars Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant in the title roles of husband and wife Grace snd Jonathan Fraser.

The book is told from the point of view of Grace. She is a therapist, married to a pediatric oncologist and has one son, Henry. They live in New York City and live a privileged life full of private schools and wealth. Much of Grace’s clients are women with problems in their marriage. Grace can be quite harsh with advice, often telling women they missed warning signs early on in the relationship. Grace comes up with her tagline, “You Should Have Known.” This line eventually becomes the title of a book she wrote that is getting ready for publication. Literally within a few days of promoting her book, Grace’s life turns completely upside down.

This book is a suspenseful mystery/thriller. The author unravels Grace’s life little by little, which keeps the reader engaged. I enjoyed this book, and I also watched the mini-series afterwards, which was fantastic.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
