Book Review—The God of the Woods by Liz Moore

The God of the Woods by Liz Moore is Book of the Month’s Book of the Year for 2024. It is an engrossing book about a family-owned summer camp in the Adirondacks. The owners of the camp, the Van Laar’s, daughter is missing from the camp. What adds to that mystery is the fact that 20 years earlier, the Van Laar’s young son, Bear, also went missing. He has never been found. The book is part thriller and part mystery. It has a dual timeline and multiple viewpoints, which adds to the suspense. Liz Moore’s literary style of writing is perfect for this family saga. Highly recommend.
