At first glance I wasn’t sure I wanted to read Broken Country by Clare Leslie Hall. I thought it would be too sad. It was sad, but it is a great story. The novel is beautifully written and as a reader you can imagine the beautiful countryside pictured on the book cover. Broken Country was selected as a Reese’s Book Club pick in March of this year.
The novel has aspects of historical fiction, a mystery, and romance. The romance is actually a love triangle that has heartbreaking consequences. You will get swept up into the world of Beth, Frank and Gabriel. This is a book that is hard to put down and will stay with you long after you close the cover.
