Book Review—She Said by Jodi Kantor & Megan Twohey

When I listened to Catch and Kill by Ronan Farrow, he mentioned the two New York Times reporters that were also working on the Harvey Weinstein story.  Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey broke the Harvey Weinstein story which began the #MeToo movement and won the 2018 Pulitzer Prize in Public Service.  Their book, She Said, was published on September 10, 2019.

This book chronicles the fall from power of Harvey Weinstein through the investigative reporting done by Kantor and Twohey.  I was amazed by everything they had to go through to get this story.  At the book’s end, they also report on the behind the scenes of Christine Blakey Ford and her confrontation with Brett Kavanaugh, who was, at the time, the Supreme Court nominee.

This book has really made me think about the countless women who are in a situation like this at work where there is sexual harassment, sexual abuse and/or an imbalance of power.  Does your human resources department take your complaints seriously, or do they just want you to go away?  It just seems like there is so much more to be done on this issue.  This is a great start, and I am thankful for all the work these two women did to get this story public.
