Book Review—The Happy Ever After Playlist by Abby Jimenez

Another winner for author, Abby Jimenez!  The Happy Ever After Playlist is the sequel to The Friend Zone, which I read and reviewed in October, 2019.  Although they are both stand alone books, I would still recommend reading The Friend Zone first.  There is a lot of background information on the main character, Sloan Monroe, in The Friend Zone that will make reading The Happy Ever After Playlist a better experience.  Speaking of a better experience, the book has an actual playlist that goes along with each chapter. The playlist is available on Spotify. Just search for The Happy Ever After Playlist and play the songs in order before you read each chapter.  Another fun fact is that Ms. Jimenez wrote The Happy Ever After Playlist as her debut novel.  She found an agent with that book, but they wanted her to write the prequel, so that is why The Friend Zone was published first.

Sloan Monroe has been grief-stricken for two years. She is putting her life back together when a dog named Tucker literally jumps into her life.  She takes Tucker home and reluctantly texts the owner. But she hears nothing back from Tucker’s owner.  In the meantime, Tucker and Sloan are going on long walks, and she begins to heal with him at her side.  One night Tucker’s owner, Jason, does text Sloan.  He is a musician and he is on tour in Australia.  Sloan and Jason text every day and finally start talking on the phone.  Jason tells Sloan that he does want Tucker back after the tour.  You will just have to read the book to find out where all of this leads.
