The Weekenders by Mary Kay Andrews is such an enjoyable summer read. I listened to the audiobook for free from the Libby app. All you need is a library card and the app. Then you are able to download books on your Kindle app or listen to them on the Libby app for free.
The Weekenders is set in North Carolina. The fictitious Belle Isle is loosely based on Bald Head Island, North Carolina. Access to the island from the mainland is only by private boat or ferry. The “Regulars” on the island live there year-round, while the “Weekenders” often take the ferry over after work on Friday and head back to their jobs on Sunday evening or Monday morning.
Riley Griggs goes to her summer home on Belle Isle only to find her home in foreclosure and her husband missing. With her idyllic summer plans in shambles, she tries to piece together the secrets that have been kept from her.
