I enjoyed reading The Good Part by Sophie Cousens. The book begins with Lucy Young working in a dead-end tv production job, going on unfulfilling dates and living in a leaky flat with many roommates. When her best friend decides she is moving out, Lucy is devastated. She is just so unhappy with the present state of her life. One night Lucy goes out for drinks and eventually finds herself in a little shop that has an antique wishing machine. She places a coin inside the machine and wishes to go to ‘the good part’ of her life. Reminiscent of the movie Big with Tom Hanks, Lucy wakes up the next morning with a new life.
The Good Part is a time-travel book that works. Lucy gets her wish, but at what cost? The book is hilarious as Lucy navigates her life sixteen years in the future. If you are looking for a fun, lighthearted book, pick up a copy of The Good Part.
