Book Review—Mayluna by Kelley McNeil

Every once in a while, a book comes along that really surprises you, as a reader. Mayluna by Kelley McNeil, is one of those books. It was an Amazon First Reads choice,  and it came highly recommended by Ashley Spivey, my go-to book influencer! I thought, oh this book gives me Daisy Jones & the Six vibes. It certainly did, but is so much more.

Mayluna is an alternative-rock band whose lead singer is legendary, Carter Willis. Evie Waters is a up and coming columnist, who snags an interview with Carter. Their connection is instant, like all of the stars in the universe lined up for them at this particular moment. Yet, the book is not as silly as that might sound. It explores their deep connection. The novel is told with a dual timeline, and begins with Evie’s daughters finding an old photo of a “mystery woman” with Mayluna, and they realize it is their mom.

This novel is really worth your time. Kelley McNeil is a brilliant writer that has written an amazing book. I highly recommend Mayluna.
