I have loved reviewing the Aldi wine, cheese, and chocolate Advent calendars! Here are the last five days!
Day 20
Wine: Merlot from Chile—Flavors of cherry and plum with aromas of coffee and chocolate; can be served at room temperature and paired with grilled pork loin, roast lamb or tomato based dishes. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cheese: Hot and Spicy Gouda (Repeat from Day 6) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Chocolate: Mascarpone Truffle (Repeat from Day 2). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Day 21
Wine: Chardonnay from Argentina—Aromas of tropical fruit; serve chilled or paired with seafood, salads, and light chicken dishes. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cheese: Red Leicester (Repeat from Day 1). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Chocolate: Mousse with Nougat Chocolate (Repeat from Day 4). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Day 22
Wine: Shiraz from Australia—Cherry and plum flavors with hints of spice, pepper and vanilla; serve at room temperature with peppered steak, robust pasta dishes or roasted vegetables. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cheese: Tomato and Olive Gouda (Repeat from Day 8). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Chocolate: Mousse Au Chocolat Truffle (Repeat from Day 7) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Day 23
Wine: Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile—Dark fruity aromas, blackcurrant, plum, and spice; serve at room temperature paired with lamb, stews or roasted vegetables ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cheese: Edam (Repeat from Day 12). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Chocolate: Baked Apple Truffle (Repeat of Day 14) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Day 24–Christmas Eve
Wine: Prosecco from Italy—A sparkling extra-dry wine; aromas of brioche, hazelnut and apple; serve chilled on its own or with appetizers or light dishes. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cheese: White Cheddar (Repeat from Day 15). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Chocolate: Bourbon Vanilla Truffle (Repeat from Day 6). This chocolate is oversized! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
After sampling all of the wines and trying all of the cheeses and chocolates, I highly recommend the Advent calendars from Aldi. I enjoyed all of the wines, in fact there was not one that I did not enjoy. I still have a lot of them to finish, too. Every day has a new wine; there are no repeats. I also enjoyed every type of cheese and chocolate. The selections are high quality, even if there are repeats.
