Book Review—Redhead by the Side of the Road by Anne Tyler

I listened to Redhead by the Side of the Road by Anne Tyler last month. It is short and sweet. It is only 178 pages or 4 hours and 50 minutes long in audio form.  The book was published in April, 2020 and was on the longlist for the Booker Prize.

The Redhead on the Side of the Road is the story of Micah Mortimer. He heads a one-man tech service called Tech Hermit, which was also his college nickname. Micah was the “favored” child in a family full of sisters.  However, his life in Baltimore is a simple one helping clients fix their computers and also acting as the superintendent of his building on the side. He has a girlfriend, Cass, a teacher, and they have been dating quite a long time. When Cass is faced with eviction and a teenager named Brink shows up at his door claiming to be his son, Micah’s steady life is thrown out of kilter.

I really enjoyed this novel. I read Clock Dance by Anne Tyler a few years ago. I love the way she writes about quirky characters. This book is an easy read and will pull at your heartstrings. I will be reading more Anne Tyler books in the future.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
