Book Reviews of Holiday Reading

I love holiday reading! Below are three of the holiday books I read this year. I actually listened to all of them using the Libby app. I’m  going to give a short review of each book.

Starry Night by Debbie Macomber
If you have read any Debbie Macomber books before, you know that they are always sweet romances in beautiful settings. Starry Night is set for the most part in the Alaskan wilderness. Columnist Carrie Slayton asks her boss for the story of a lifetime in which she must travel to remote Alaska around Christmastime. Of course there is romance involved, humor, and likeable characters. It is truly a feel-good Christmas read.

The Christmas Sisters by Sarah Morgan
This is the first book I have ever read by Sarah Morgan, and it won’t be the last. Set in the Highlands of Scotland, Suzanne McBride is welcoming home her three adopted daughters for Christmas. This is a lovely story about the McBride sisters that is heartwarming, along with the drama you might expect with sisters. Sarah Morgan has developed all of her characters beautifully in this well-written book. The Christmas Sisters is a festive read.

The Christmas Train by David Baldacci
I loved this book! The audio version was just awesome! It had the sounds of the locomotive engines pulling in and out of the stations. Tim Matheson’s narration was perfect. Tom Langdon is a cynical journalist who is forced to take a train from D.C. to L.A. in time for Christmas. However, the train ride is the best thing to happen to him in a long time. The Christmas Train is full of memorable characters, second chances, and Christmas miracles. I highly recommend The Christmas Train.
