These Slow Cooker Toasty BBQ Sandwiches would be perfect for the upcoming July 4th weekend! It would be a great addition to traditional hot dogs and hamburgers! They are so delicious and so simple to make! Pair it with Crunchy Slaw and enjoy! I got both of these recipes from Courtney Holsworth at A Life From Scratch. She has a super Instagram page full of recipes and organizational tips! I love following her!
Slow Cooker Toasty BBQ Sandwiches
Ingredients:
- 3-4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 18 ounces of your favorite BBQ sauce (I used Sweet Baby Ray’s Original. Their Hickory Brown Sugar flavor works well, too.)
- 1/3 cup light brown sugar. (You can use Swerve Brown Sugar Replacement.)
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- Dash of Worcestershire
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt & pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Pinch of red pepper flakes
- Your choice of buns for serving (We used brioche sliders.)
- Your choice of cheese. (We used sharp cheddar.)
Instructions:
- Place chicken breasts in a slow cooker.
- Whisk together the remaining ingredients. Pour on top and mix with the chicken.
- Cook on High for 3-4 hours or on LOW for 6-7.
- When done, preheat your oven to 425° and shred the chicken.
- Line a baking sheet with foil and place buns open face.
- Top with chicken and cheese.
- Toast in the preheated oven for approximately 5 minutes.
Tip: To save time, line your baking sheet with foil while the chicken is in the slow cooker.
This is a recipe I will definitely make again! It is that good. Pairing it with the crunchy slaw is a great combination. Either of these recipes or both would be easy to bring to someone’s home for the 4th, too!
Happy 4th of July!! 🇺🇸
