Book Review—Like Mother, Like Daughter by Kimberly McCreight

Like Mother, Like Daughter by Kimberly McCreight is a suspenseful thriller. Published in July of 2024, this is the first novel I have read by the author, and I will definitely be reading more of her books.

Kat, is a lawyer and her daughter, Cleo, is a student at NYU. Kat is a perfectionist and an overprotective mother, while Cleo is impulsive and rebellious. Needless to say, they have a complex mother/daughter relationship. When Kat goes missing, Cleo has to step-up to try to find her mother.

This novel has two timelines that adds to the suspense of the story. The forward timeline is Cleo’s search for her mother. The other timeline focuses on Kat’s life counting down from eight days before her disappearance. The author weaved many twists throughout the two timelines and wove them together with expertise.

If you enjoy thrillers, you will want to read Like Mother, Like Daughter.
